I recently read somewhere that Red (Sanguine) is predicted to be the color for next fall. hence one of the major fall 2017 trends, as seen at Jil Sander, Fendi, The Row, Altuzarra, Oscar de la Renta, Victoria Beckham, etc., at the F/W17 fashion week. Weird how I unintentionally guzzled up a lot of red fabrics while fabric shopping last weekend, including old fabrics I wanted to get out of my closet. I’m screaming red today, in both color and attitude towards life, the color part had nothing to do with the trend but I’m happy my mind is looking ahead hehe. I absolutely love it when a color I hardly wear (for no reason) becomes trendy because then I find outfit inspiration all over street style website corners. I am clearly very ready for the Fall 2017 trends.
Sanguine, which is also blood red, means being optimistic or positive especially in an apparently bad or difficult situation.
As we welcome fall around this side of the world, I can’t help but ponder the same thought that comes to my mind at the beginning of every season. Living in South Africa with Summer/Spring between August and February, and Fall/Winter between February and July, you kinda get confused as to which trends to follow. With the other parts of the world entering Spring just when we’re getting into Fall, do we get on the trends from the previous fall or from the future fall, since F/W fashion is already over by then and trend analysis reports are already out. Anybody got the answers? Help me out! Althoughhhh, seeing as we are not one of the major fashion cities/countries, we dare not set the pace for the rest of the world. So, I think we obviously would have to continue to carry last with the trends. Yaay us! 🙁
The skirt I wore here was made one random evening after I had been rummaging through my closet for something and got upset with the clutter of unused fabrics I had in there. So I grabbed this particular red rib knit fabric and headed for my little sewing machine and gave life to it. Found this cute jumper on sale at a really great price, and even though it was 4 sizes too big, I grabbed it anyway. Remember, baggy is still cool ;). The bag is the Zara bag in this post, which I DIYed on the other side. I had a few stick on accessories which I just randomly glued to the other side of the bag to create two bags in one, yaay!! Got excited when I read that red was one of the fall 2017 trends and giddily styled my outfit.
I had a quite hectic week last week, an hectic weekend and I’ve started another hectic week this week. I’ve learnt that every little time spent being productive will always be a plus. You will never get to a point where you’d lose out because you chose to be productive. So I’m putting in all the effort I have, and choosing to be 100% positive no matter what, and I think it’s cute how my outfit somehow passes that same message; sanguine at heart and in outfit ;). I am also looking forward to the long weekend, never wanted a long weekend as I want this one. I wish I had some spare cash so I can do a little getaway within Cape Town but my reality is that I am broke, while also preparing for my trip in two weeks 😀 . Got any plans for the Easter weekend? Do share.
